GPS Plus Card for Fastrack

PrintPrintSend to friendSend to friend
ClearConnex engineering team has designed expansion boards for the Fastrack Supreme and Fastrack Xtend so that we can deliver the functionality of a custom built solution, with the cost-effectiveness of an off-the-shelf modem. The Sierra Wireless Fastrack is an off-the-shelf cellular modem which includes an open expansion slot that accepts off-the-shelf or custom cards within the self contained enclosure. Our ClearComm software platform also supports the features of the GPS Plus Card.

Feature Overview
The GPS Plus Card is available in different configurations. The Micro SD card and F-RAM options are mutually exclusive. The Card can be built with either one feature or with all features populated (except for Micro SD card or F-RAM)

- SiRFstar III-based GPS, MMCX antenna connector
- PIC microprocessor provides additionalprocessing power
- 26 GPIOs
- Micro SD card holder
- Ferromagnetic NVRAM
- USB Port (for Fastrack Supreme only)

All features are connected to the Fastracks OpenAT based cellular modem via the IESM connector. Software support for all features is available when ClearComm is loaded on the Fastrack.

External Connectors-
30-Pin Standard I/O connector (DD1R030HA1R1300 to fit DD1P030MA1 cable connector, JAE Electronics)
MMCX GPS Antenna
USB Mini-B Connector Receptacle (54819-0572 - Molex)

GPS Configuration
Vincotech A1084 GPS Receiver
Standard MMCX Antenna Connector
Requires active antenna.
Connected to Sierra Wireless modem using UART2

PIC Processor
PIC18F6722 microprocessor
Processor Speed – 8 MHz
LVP (Low Voltage Programming) port
May be used for I/O control or general processing
Connected to Sierra Wireless modem using I2C bus

Micro SD Card Holder
A micro SD card holder of any capacity may be mounted.
Connected to Sierra Wireless modem using SPI bus
(May not be populated with F-RAM)

F-RAM
2 Mb (256k x 8) F-RAM, providing extended write cycles over traditional EE devices.
Connected to Sierra Wireless modem using SPI bus
(May not be populated with Micro SD Card)
